GENEVA (AP) - Jose Manuel Barroso will have the rare
privilege of seeing in person the two opening day matches
of Euro 2008.

Swiss newspaper Tages-Anzeiger reports Friday that the
European Commission president will attend the first half of
Switzerland's opening game against the Czech Republic
before being flown to watch the whole of Portugal vs.

The games on Saturday take place 230 kilometers (140
miles) apart in Basel and Geneva.

The Portuguese politician, who holds the top post at the
European Union's executive in Brussels, has been invited to
the matches by Swiss President Pascal Couchepin.
