Severe Floods in Western Ukraine, Romania Kill 17By VOA News

Authorities in western Ukraine say some of the worst flooding in a century has killed at least 13 people near the Romanian border, and four other deaths were reported in Romania.

Authorities evacuated about 7,000 people after floods swept through more than 20,000 homes near the border.
President Viktor Yushchenko arrived in western Ukraine Sunday to assess the damage, and Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko also is touring the territory.
In Romania, officials say a mother, her son and another youngster taking shelter in a hillside home died when the building was swept away by a landslide. Another child drowned in a separate incident.
