Turkish bank opens branches in Macedonia
Turkey has opened two separate branches of Ziraat Bankasi Skopje in Gostivar and Tetova cities of Macedonia. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, State Minister Nazım Ekren said Turkey expected the bank branches to help to boost trade volume between Turkey and Macedonia. Ekren said trade volume between Turkey and Macedonia was around $300 million.

Austria to hold public vote on Turkey's EU bid
Coalition parties have agreed to proceed with a referendum if Turkey's accession talks with the European Union are concluded in favor of a decision to prepare a membership agreement, said Austrian Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik, as published in German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on Saturday. �Turkey's membership will bring a new dimension to the European integration and the EU,� she said.

Illegal immigrants caught in Van
Turkish security officials caught 21 illegal immigrants in the eastern city of Van yesterday. The officials patrolling the road followed a van that did not follow their instructions to stop. After the pursuit the officials found the driver had abandoned the van. The immigrants, of Afghan descent, will be deported, while the search for the van's driver is still ongoing.
