Akbank, Turkey’s largest bank by market capitalization, said on Tuesday it had not made any changes in its growth targets and its staff number increased so far this year.

Akbank made a statement to Istanbul Stock Exchange after market rumors suggested the bank laid off more than 1,000 people last week. The bank said some staff had left the company due to retirement or after performance assessments, but it did not give a figure.

It said it had increased its staff by a net 1,663 so far this year to 15,176.
