Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan visited the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva, Switzerland on Monday.

CERN Director Robert Aymar briefed Erdogan about the studies carried out by the organization, and said that CERN was established with an international agreement that employed 2,329 people.

Aymar said that 2007 budget of CERN was 610 million euro ($769.8 million), adding that Turkey --besides the U.S., EU Commission, Russia, Japan, India and Israel-- was among the leading observer countries in the organization.

Aymar said that nearly 100 Turkish researchers were contributing to the organization.
