According to officials, the head of the İBB fire department will hire employees under the civil servants law.

After fire-fighting candidates take a public employee test, or KPSS, those who score above 50 points out of a 100 will be interviewed and tested for endurance.

To apply to become a firefighter, you must be a Turkish citizen, younger than 30 years of age and must not have been deprived of public rights. Applicants are also required to have particular physical features such as a certain height and weight, and no fear of heights.

Applicants need to bring required documents and KPSS results to the İBB Fire Department, located in the Beşiktaş district of Yıldız Park. The deadline for applicants is Dec. 17.

Those employed will be trained under a special program before undertaking tasks around the biggest city of Turkey, Istanbul.
