Turkish television maker Grundig Elektronik said on Friday it had signed a letter of intent with Sony Eurasia to produce Sony brand LCD televisions. (UPDATED)

Grundig, formerly Beko Elektronik, said in a statement to the Istanbul Stock Exchange that two Sony Bravia models would be produced at the Grundig plant, planned for sale from 2009.

Grundig, a subsidiary of Turkey's largest white goods producer and retailer, began its cooperation with Sony in 2004 with the sale of Sony merchandise in their retail stores.

Sony believes this strategic partnership would develop successfully, Mohsen Noohi, general director of the Sony Eurasia said in an emailed statement.
