However, the situation of five villas in the Taşlıca village have caused a new controversy.

"The authorities disturbed the villagers saying that they would pull down their homes. After ruining five villas, they gave the message ’Unless you vote for us, we will demolish your homes,’" said Dursun Kaplan, a member of the provincial council.

Asserting that the government has threatened Muğla residents, who are known to support the Republican People’s Party, or CHP, Kaplan said, "The number of villagers that have legal building permits is not more than 1 percent. Why are the rules valid for only Muğla? Because it is more profitable here. They will record the properties of the villagers here and then sell them off to their followers."

No way to call in decision
It is impossible to stop the demolition of the homes, however, they have delayed action due to procedural and technical problems, said Ahmet Altıparmak, Muğla governor. "The construction of illegal buildings has been going on as election time approaches. Never think that someone will call and stop the demolition of the homes. We will not allow illegal buildings. Do not waste your money in vain."
