The world’s second largest offshore boat and yacht fair, the Third Eurasia Boat Show is being hosted by Istanbul’s CNR Expo Trade Fair, between Feb. 13 and 22. The major boat show is exhibiting more than 200 boats of different sizes from 350 companies and 1,500 different brands.

Guest at the boat show and visiting Istanbul for the first time was Tony Rice, Secretary General of International Council of Marine Industry Associations, or ICOMIA. Speaking at the ceremony opening on Friday, Rice said Turkey had a great reputation in shipbuilding and is recognized worldwide for the quality of the boats it produces. Rice said he was extremely impressed by the outstanding facilities at Istanbul’s CNR expo center and that it was a great venue for the fair.

Rice said this year’s fair was critical for the market. "Although there has been a 15 percent drop in boat buyers across the world, serious boaters are still buying, which is why this fair is so important."

Rice said with the expectation of up to 10,000 foreign visitors at the fair, it will be a great opportunity for people in the industry to meet and discuss the future of the market and come up with strategies to fight the crisis.

Boats to look out for at the fair are boats from the Sabancı group and Donald Trump.

The largest boat at the fair is the 21M, a 22-meter motor yacht brought to the fair by the Alfa Beta Marine group. Another highlight at the fair is the 5 new models by Numarine that have dynamic and sporty qualities and have been merited for their performance and security.

The boat fair is at Istanbul’s CNR expo center and features sail- and motorboats, there are engines, equipment and accessories exhibited.
