The Meteorology Department issued a flood alert for Istanbul and the Marmara region on Monday.
Heavy rains are expected from a western front and the state Meteorology Department has warned citizens to beware of floods and lightning in the northwestern regions of Edirne, Kırklareli, Tekirdağ, Çanakkale, Balıkesir and Istanbul’s European side.
Temperatures are expected to drop by 4 to 6 degrees Centigrade.
All parts of the country are expected to receive rainfall as the week progresses. For the next few days, however, it is only the Marmara region that will have strong winds accompanied by rain.
