Snow that started falling in the Marmara region Tuesday is expected to lighten in western Turkey on Wednesday afternoon, the private news site NTVMSNBC reported.
Istanbul, which already saw snow on Tuesday in its northern and western regions, is expected to receive snow on its Anatolian side Wednesday. The temperature is expected to be minus 3 degrees Celsius in Istanbul on Wednesday night.
The snow will be intense in Central Anatolia, while the Aegean and Mediterranean regions will experience frost and icy condintions. Eastern Anatolia will receive snow on Thursday and temperatures along the Black Sea are expected to decrease to around 3 or 4 C.
Less snow is expected after Thursday although the cold will remain throughout the country until Sunday.
