Turkey’s Republican People’s Party, or CHP, head Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is taking his representatives to camp to review the party’s policies and future strategies. The CHP camp, a first in CHP history, will convene Friday and Saturday in Abant, halfway between Ankara and Istanbul. All representatives will be expected to participate.
The representatives will come to camp without their wives, unlike their political rival Justice and Development Party, or AKP. The meeting, held at the Büyük Otel, will start Friday with a speech from the party leader and will last for two days.
After the opening speech by Kılıçdaroğlu, the meeting will continue closed to the press. The results of the referendum will be analyzed at regional and provincial levels. During the meeting, both the new legislative year and the activities of the 2011 elections will be planned.
The important issues on the agenda of the country, such as the constitutional reform, terror, the economy, the headscarf issue, the approach of the CHP to these issues and the studies carried out by the CHP will analyzed. Also opinions, suggestions and problems of representatives will be considered.
Whether the former head of the CHP, Deniz Baykal, will participate in the camp is unknown.
