Sixty-seven illegal migrants were arrested Saturday in operations throughout Turkey.
Gendarmerie teams patrolling the Gürpınar town of the eastern province of Van, asked a suspected vehicle to stop.
The minibus carrying illegal migrants escaped. The gendarmerie teams pursued and caught up with the suspected vehicle and arrested 26 illegal migrants of Afghan, Burmese and Pakistani origin.
In separate operations waged by Gendarmerie and Border Patrol teams in Bosnaköy and Meriç towns of Edirne 21 illegal migrants of Somali, Burmese and Palestinian origin were arrested on an illegal attempt to cross the Turkish border into Europe.
Fourteen Afghans who entered the country illegally were caught by gendarmerie teams in the Tatvan town of the eastern province of Bitlis. Two suspects were arrested under charges of harboring and aiding the illegal migrants.
Illegal migrants will be deported following legal procedures
